Sarawak Premier Joins Army for Breaking Fast, Gives Aid to Families

KUCHING, March 16 – Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, attended a Breaking Fast Ceremony with the Army Eastern Field Command Headquarters (MK PMTTD) at Solahuddin Al-Ayubbi Mosque, Penrissen Camp.

The event, held in the spirit of Ramadan, saw the Premier joining military personnel in prayer and sharing a meal to foster unity and gratitude.

In a heartwarming gesture, Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari presented hampers and cash donations to five recipients. These beneficiaries included military personnel and their children battling chronic diseases, reflecting the government’s commitment to caring for servicemen and their families.

Strengthening Bonds Through Worship

Following the iftar (breaking fast), the Premier, alongside military officers and guests, performed Maghrib, Isyak, and Tarawih prayers in congregation. The evening concluded with moreh (light refreshments), where attendees engaged in meaningful conversations.

Dignitaries in Attendance

Several high-ranking officials also joined the event, including:

  • Major General Datuk Khairul Anuar Abd Aziz, Commander of the 1st Division
  • Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Deputy Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications (Utilities)
  • Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Secretary to the Sarawak State

This gathering reinforced solidarity between the Sarawak leadership and the armed forces, acknowledging the sacrifices and dedication of military personnel, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
