Sarawak Premier Joins Friday Prayers at Masjid India Bandar Kuching

Kuching, 14 March 2025 His Excellency, Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Abang Haji Openg, attended the Friday prayer ceremony at Masjid India Bandar Kuching today, together with local residents.

The arrival of the Premier, fondly known as Abg Jo, was warmly received by YBhg. Datuk Haji Ali, Chairman of the mosque, along with members of the mosque committee. The Friday prayer was led by Ustaz Wan Zairi, with a large congregation of worshippers joining in the solemn prayers.

Following the prayer, the Premier took time to listen to a briefing presented by Haji Ali regarding the latest developments of Masjid India Bandar Kuching. The discussion covered ongoing and upcoming improvements to enhance the facilities for worshippers.

After the briefing, Abg Jo, accompanied by mosque committee members, took a tour around the mosque to personally inspect the condition of the premises and observe the progress of the latest initiatives.

Also in attendance during the prayers and briefing session were Yang Berhormat Datuk Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Deputy Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications, YBhg. Datuk Helmi, Mayor of North Kuching (DBKU), and YBhg. Datuk Haji Misnu Taha, President of the Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS), as well as other key officials involved in the mosque’s development.

The presence of the Sarawak Premier at Masjid India Bandar Kuching highlights the state’s commitment to strengthening religious harmony and ensuring that places of worship continue to receive necessary support and improvements for the benefit of the community. – Sarawakku
