KUCHING – The Symbolic Ceremony of the Presentation of Raya Donations 2026 was held at the Satria Pertiwi Complex in Kuching on Friday, 6 March, with contributions presented to uniformed personnel and community members ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
The event was officiated by Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Premier of Sarawak, who was accompanied by his daughter, Puan Dayang Norjihan.
The ceremony reflected the Sarawak Government’s commitment to supporting those in need and recognising the sacrifices of frontline officers during festive periods.
The donations, described as a gesture of appreciation and solidarity, were directed towards uniformed security personnel from 11 agencies, many of whom will be on duty during Hari Raya Aidilfitri and unable to celebrate with their families. The Premier emphasised that the initiative symbolises love and gratitude for their dedication to public safety.
In his remarks, the Premier expressed thanks to the Sarawak Ministry of Women, Children and Community Wellbeing and the Sarawak Women and Children’s Department, along with all agencies involved in organising the programme.
He noted that the collaboration ensured the success of the ceremony and strengthened the state’s welfare agenda.
Symbolic contributions were presented to representatives from the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, Malaysian Prisons Department, Malaysian Immigration Department, Royal Malaysian Customs Department, Malaysian Road Transport Department, Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), Malaysian Volunteers Department, and the Sarawak Security and Enforcement Unit.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including YB Datuk Amar Prof. Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Deputy Premier of Sarawak; YB Tan Sri Datuk Amar Asfia Awang Nassar, Speaker of the Sarawak State Assembly; and YB Dato Sri Hajjah Fatimah Abdullah, Minister of Women, Children and Community Wellbeing of Sarawak.
Also present were Deputy Ministers YB Datuk Hajjah Rosey Yunus and YB Datuk Mohamad Razi Sitam, alongside other officials.
Hari Raya Aidilfitri, expected to be celebrated in April 2026, is a time of family gatherings, charity, and reflection. The donations are intended to ease burdens, brighten festivities, and ensure that those serving the community feel valued during the season.
The ceremony at the Satria Pertiwi Complex was described as a success, reinforcing the government’s dedication to welfare and inclusivity.
The Premier’s involvement highlighted the importance of recognising both the needy and those who safeguard the state, ensuring that the spirit of Aidilfitri is shared across all levels of society.
