MUKAH – Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg met members of the Mukah community during a dinner at Kingwood Resort Mukah on 2 October 2026.

The gathering brought together community leaders, representatives and residents from different backgrounds, providing an opportunity for the Premier to meet people in an informal setting during his visit to the Mukah division.

The dinner was held in a cordial atmosphere, with the presence of the state leadership providing a platform for interaction between the government and members of the local community.

Such community gatherings allow government leaders to engage directly with residents outside formal meetings and official programmes. They also provide opportunities for local representatives and community leaders to meet state leaders and maintain communication on matters affecting their respective communities.

The event in Mukah highlighted the emphasis placed on maintaining connections between the state administration and grassroots communities. The gathering also brought together people from various walks of life, reflecting the diversity of the Mukah community.

Beyond the formal role of government, community events such as the dinner provide space for residents, leaders and representatives to interact in a more relaxed environment. The setting encourages conversations and helps maintain links between state authorities and communities across the division.

The Premier’s participation also coincided with an emphasis on unity and togetherness within the community. These themes are frequently associated with efforts to maintain cooperation among Sarawak’s diverse population as the state continues to pursue its development priorities.

For community leaders and residents, the dinner provided an occasion to meet the Premier directly while reinforcing the relationship between the state government and people at the local level.

The gathering also reflected an approach to community engagement that involves maintaining contact with residents and local leaders rather than limiting interaction to formal government functions. Direct engagement can provide state leaders with opportunities to hear from communities while allowing residents to maintain contact with those responsible for state administration.

The Mukah dinner formed part of the Premier’s engagements in the division on 2 October, bringing together representatives of the local community in a setting focused on interaction and fellowship.

With community leaders and residents attending alongside state leadership, the event underscored the continuing importance of communication and engagement between government and grassroots communities in Mukah.

The gathering concluded the day’s community engagement in an atmosphere centred on fellowship, unity and continued ties between the state leadership and the people of Mukah. – Sarawak Daily
