KUCHING, 15 February 2026 – Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, attended the highly anticipated final of the 2025 Sarawak Premier Cup at the Sarawak State Stadium this evening.

Arriving from Kuala Lumpur, the Premier made his way directly to the stadium, demonstrating strong support for the continued development of football in Sarawak. His presence highlighted the state government’s commitment to nurturing local sporting talent and promoting community engagement through football.

In his address to the audience, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman expressed his gratitude to the Sarawak Football Association (FAS) and the various agencies involved in organising the prestigious tournament. He emphasized that such competitions play a crucial role in identifying and developing young Sarawakian players who may one day rise to professional levels, both locally and internationally.

The tournament final saw Bintulu FA claim the championship with a 3–1 victory over Samarahan FA, thrilling fans with an exciting display of skill and teamwork. The Premier took the opportunity to also congratulate Kuching City FC on their 3–1 win against DPMM FC, a result that secured their place in the semi-finals against Selangor FC.

The 2025 Sarawak Premier Cup has once again proven to be a significant platform for fostering football talent in the state. With strong support from the state leadership and active participation from local teams, the tournament continues to inspire young athletes and strengthen Sarawak’s presence in Malaysia’s football scene.
