SINGAPORE — Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg has embarked on a four-day official working visit to Singapore to strengthen trade relations and attract potential investors to Sarawak.
The Premier arrived in the Republic of Singapore on Tuesday evening and was warmly received by several senior Sarawak officials, including State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Attorney General Yang Arif Dato Sri Saferi Ali, Deputy State Secretary (Economic Planning & Development) Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, and Deputy State Secretary (Operations) Datu Hii Chang Kee.
During his visit, the Premier is scheduled to attend several key events aimed at promoting Sarawak’s economic growth, green industry ambitions, and international trade potential.
On Wednesday, he will deliver a keynote address at the Sarawak Civil Service (SCS) One Team Retreat (OTR) 2025 in the morning, followed by the SCS OTR Gala Dinner at the Parkroyal Collection Marina Bay in the evening. The event highlights Sarawak’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the capabilities and unity of its civil service in driving the state’s Post-COVID Development Strategy 2030.
The following day, Thursday, Abang Johari will officiate the Sarawak Mega Fair 2025 at the SUNTEC Convention and Exhibition Centre. The fair, organised by the Sarawak Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment, serves as a major platform to showcase Sarawak’s trade potential, business opportunities, and industrial development projects to international audiences.
At the fair, the Premier will also launch the Sarawak Export Programme, witness the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) and Agreements (MoA), and inaugurate the Trade and Investment Exhibition Stall, all designed to boost investor confidence and expand Sarawak’s global business network.
In the afternoon, he is expected to hold an engagement session with international fund managers at UBS, where discussions will centre on potential investments in renewable energy, infrastructure, and digital transformation projects in Sarawak.
The working visit will conclude on Friday with a meeting between the Premier and Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong, where both leaders are expected to discuss regional economic cooperation and explore new areas of partnership.
This visit underscores Sarawak’s commitment to positioning itself as a regional hub for sustainable investment, trade innovation, and economic resilience.
