Sarawak Premier Visits Social Welfare Booth in Sarikei Event

SARIKEI – Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg visited the Social and Welfare Booth in Sarikei following the opening ceremony on 8 August 2026.

The visit provided an opportunity for the Premier to view services and initiatives being presented by agencies under the Ministry of Women, Children and Community Wellbeing (KPWK).

His arrival at the booth was received by Yang Berhormat Dato Sri Hajah Fatimah Abdullah, Minister of Women, Children and Community Wellbeing, together with senior officials from the ministry and its related agencies.

Among those present were KPWK Permanent Secretary Puan Nur Alina Abdullah @ Colliner Gohe and Sarawak Social Welfare Department (JKMS) Director Tuan Haji Semawi bin Haji Mohamad.

Also welcoming the Premier were Sarawak Women and Family Department (JWKS) Director Sharifah Zakiah binti Tuanku Haji Pauzi and Head of the Early Childhood Development Division at KPWK, Puan Salina binti Bujang.

Deputy Director of JKMS Puan Hajah Norhayati binti Haji Abdul Rahman was also among the officials present during the visit.

Booth personnel and other officers involved in the presentation of the ministry’s programmes were on hand to receive the Premier and accompany him during his visit.

Following the formal reception, the Premier took part in a photo session with officers stationed at the booth.

He then spent time looking at the different services and initiatives displayed by agencies operating under KPWK.

The booth highlighted the work carried out by agencies responsible for areas involving women, children, families, community wellbeing and social welfare.

The visit also allowed the Premier to interact with officials involved in delivering these services and to gain a closer view of the programmes being showcased.

KPWK oversees a range of programmes and services relating to social welfare and community wellbeing in Sarawak. Its agencies are involved in supporting various groups and addressing issues affecting women, children, families and communities.

The presence of senior ministry and departmental officials at the booth provided an opportunity for the different agencies to present their respective areas of work during the Premier’s visit.

The visit took place after the opening ceremony in Sarikei, with the Social and Welfare Booth forming part of the activities associated with the event.

The Premier’s tour of the booth focused on the services and initiatives available through agencies under KPWK, while officers provided an overview of the work being showcased.

The visit concluded after the Premier had viewed the displays and interacted with officers involved in the booth’s operations.

The programme brought together representatives from KPWK, JKMS, JWKS and the ministry’s Early Childhood Development Division, reflecting the range of agencies involved in social and community wellbeing initiatives in Sarawak.

The Sarikei visit was held on 8 August 2026 and formed part of the Premier’s activities following the opening ceremony.
