Sarawak Delegation Reviews SEA Games 2025 Broadcasting Centre

BANGKOK – A Sarawak government delegation has carried out an inspection of the Din Daeng International Broadcasting Operations Centre (BOC), one of the key facilities supporting the upcoming SEA Games 2025 in Thailand.

The visit formed part of an ongoing working mission aimed at strengthening Sarawak’s preparations for hosting the SEA Games 2027. The delegation was led by Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu, Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, alongside Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat, Sarawak Deputy Secretary (Operations) Datu Hii Chang Kee, and Tanjong assemblyman Datu Azizul Annuar Adenan.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED) and the Sarawak Sports Council (SSC) also joined the tour.

Among them were Deputy Secretary Morshidi Frederick, SSC Acting Chief Executive Officer and Sarawak State Sports Council Director Khairul Nizam Morshidi, together with other senior representatives.

During the briefing, Colonel Chuchat Pimprasert outlined the centre’s broadcasting standards, technical systems, and compliance with international sign language regulations. He also highlighted the role of the South East Asian Games Federation (SEAGF) in setting operational benchmarks.

Delegates examined the coordination between the BOC, the International Broadcast Centre (IBC), and competition venues.

They noted Thailand’s efforts to integrate broadcasting, data management, and event operations, while also raising concerns about unnecessary systems that could complicate coordination.

The BOC is managed by the National Broadcasting Services of Thailand (NBT), which has been tasked with ensuring seamless coverage of the 2025 Games.

The visit was attended by representatives of the National Sports Support and Tournament Authority (NSSAT), including General Secretary Sopittsara Tippayamonton and Tournament Manager Vichit Chiewvej.

Discussions also touched on venue safety, logistics, and technical requirements for shooting competitions, with emphasis on meeting international standards.

These exchanges are expected to provide Sarawak with valuable insights into operational planning, particularly in broadcasting and technology, as the state prepares to host the regional sporting event in 2027.

The SEA Games, a biennial multi-sport event involving athletes from across Southeast Asia, has increasingly focused on enhancing broadcasting quality to reach wider audiences. Thailand’s preparations for 2025 are seen as a benchmark for future hosts, including Sarawak, which will take over in two years’ time.

By observing Thailand’s broadcasting infrastructure and management systems, Sarawak aims to refine its own strategies to deliver successful Games that meets global expectations.

The delegation’s visit underscores the state’s commitment to ensuring that the 2027 SEA Games will be both professionally managed and internationally recognised.
