5th March 2025 – Sarawak’s tourism charm reached global eyes as the Honourable Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, Deputy Minister for Tourism of Sarawak, led a strong delegation of 39 representatives to the world-renowned ITB Berlin 2025. The event, held from 4th to 6th March at Messe Berlin, Germany, is one of the biggest travel trade fairs in the world.
The Sarawak delegation included key players from the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Sarawak Tourism Board (STB), Sarawak Arts Council, Sibu Resident Office, and several tourism industry partners.

During the event, Datuk Sebastian Ting officially launched two exciting promotional materials to attract international tourists. The first was the new transformative “Sarawak Destination Video”, which highlights the unique culture, stunning nature, and rich heritage of Sarawak. The second was “The Intimate and Ultimate Guide to Kuching Gastronomy”, a comprehensive food guidebook designed to promote Kuching’s diverse and delicious culinary scene.

The launch event was witnessed by YB Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, Malaysia’s Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture; YB Dato Dennis Ngau, Chairman of Sarawak Tourism Board; Mr. Desmond Douglas Jerukan, Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry; and Mdm Sharzede Datu Haji Salleh Askor, CEO of Sarawak Tourism Board.
At the Sarawak booth, visitors were treated to a special highlight – live tattoo demonstrations by Boy Skolang, a famous tattoo artist known for promoting Sarawak’s tribal tattoo culture. This unique showcase attracted strong interest from visitors and media alike.
To further promote Sarawak’s warmth and hospitality, the delegation also held a media conference in Germany, proudly announcing that Sarawak is ready to welcome visitors from all over the world with open arms and exciting experiences.
Datuk Sebastian Ting also made time to visit the Sabah booth, where he was warmly welcomed by YB Datuk Tan Kok Liang, President of FATA, and Mr. Julinus Jeffrey Jimit, CEO of Sabah Tourism Board. This friendly visit showcased the strong collaboration between East Malaysia states in promoting Malaysian tourism globally.
To end on a fun and colourful note, the Sarawak Arts Council dancers led a lively poco-poco dance at the booth, attracting smiles, cameras, and happy visitors.
With creativity, culture, and delicious food on full display, Sarawak’s presence at ITB Berlin 2025 successfully captured the attention of global tourism players – showing the world that Sarawak is truly More to Discover.
