KUCHING – Sarawak’s Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, received a high-level courtesy visit today from the Minister of Energy, Science and Technology and Minister of Labour of Singapore, Dr Tan See Leng, at the Satria Pertiwi Complex.

The visit aimed to strengthen bilateral ties and explore strategic cooperation opportunities between Sarawak and Singapore in key sectors such as energy, science, and technology.

Leading the Singapore delegation, Dr Tan See Leng was joined by senior officials from multiple Singaporean agencies and energy institutions, including:

  • Eugene Toh, Assistant CEO of the Energy Market Authority (EMA)
  • Ong Teng Koon, CEO of Singapore Energy Interconnections (5GE)
  • Li Xiaoyao, Deputy Director, Ministry of Trade and Industry
  • Melissa Lee, Counselor (Economics), Singapore High Commission in Kuala Lumpur
  • Serena Chan, Senior Assistant Director, Ministry of Commerce and Industry
  • Seow Hui Lin Joycelyn, Singapore Energy Interconnections (5GE)
  • Kannan Arunachalam, Principal Analyst, Energy Market Authority

The courtesy visit reflects growing collaboration between Sarawak and Singapore, particularly in areas related to renewable energy transition, cross-border energy connectivity, and the digital economy.

Also present during the meeting was Fenny Nuli, Director of the Sarawak Regional Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As Sarawak advances its ambitions under the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030), regional partnerships such as this are pivotal in positioning the state as a leader in sustainable energy, digital innovation, and ASEAN cooperation.
