Sarawak Women’s Day 2025 to Honour Inclusive Achievements on 2 August

KUCHING — Sarawak Women’s Day 2025 (HW25) will take place on 2 August at the Sarawak State Assembly Hall Complex, celebrating the vital contributions of women to the state’s growth and national development.

Themed “Diversity, Equality, Equity and Inclusivity (D2EI)”, this year’s event highlights the importance of recognising women of all backgrounds and abilities, said Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah.

“This celebration is held to appreciate the impact Sarawakian women have made in their families, communities, and the state at large. We are proud to recognise those who have brought honour to Sarawak and Malaysia in various fields,” she said during a press conference held at Wisma Wanita, Petra Jaya, on Tuesday.

Participation will be inclusive, with female representatives from all 45 districts in Sarawak taking part via the Zoom platform, allowing a wider reach beyond the 800 physical attendees permitted at the venue.

District-level celebrations will also be organised, supported by small grants to enable more local participation and visibility of women-led efforts throughout Sarawak.

A highlight of HW25 will be the Women’s Figure Awards, recognising outstanding contributions through six categories:
