Sarawak Youth Drive Success of State Policy Towards 2030

KUCHING – The younger generation in Sarawak is increasingly recognised as a vital force in ensuring the success of state policies leading up to 2030. Their role goes beyond observation, as they actively contribute ideas and energy to support the government’s development agenda.

Dato Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, Chief Political Secretary to the Sarawak Premier, said young people feel a strong sense of responsibility in helping to realise initiatives under the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS).

He emphasised that students are not only continuing their studies, but also playing a part in implementing policies that will shape Sarawak’s future.

“This is very important because students work and continue their work. They are implementing the policies set out in the PCDS 2030 and the Sarawak Government’s policy towards 2030,” he said after officiating the closing ceremony of the SUARA 2.0 project in Kuching on Tuesday.

Dato Fazzrudin explained that the state’s long-term plan has been carefully designed to ensure students are well-prepared to carry forward the legacy of their elders. He expressed confidence in the skills and knowledge of Sarawak’s youth, noting that their abilities will be crucial in driving progress.

He highlighted that SUARA 2.0 serves as a platform to strengthen students’ understanding of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), the PCDS 2030, and the state’s strategic direction. The programme also aims to deepen awareness of Sarawak’s policies and encourage active participation in development efforts.

Held from 7 to 10 December, SUARA 2.0 demonstrated the collaborative spirit of Sarawakians in working towards the state’s policy goals by 2030.

The initiative was organised by the Sarawak Unity Foundation (YPS) and brought together 60 students from across the state, including representatives from government and private higher learning institutions.

Dato Fazzrudin reiterated that the involvement of young people is essential to ensure continuity in Sarawak’s development. He stressed that their participation reflects the government’s commitment to inclusivity and the empowerment of future leaders.

The programme underscored the importance of youth engagement in policy implementation, showing that Sarawak’s younger generation is ready to take on greater responsibilities in shaping the state’s future.
