Sarawak Youths Shine at National JCI TOYM 2025 Awards Ceremony

Sarawak Youths Shine at National JCI TOYM 2025 Awards Ceremony

MIRI – The 2025 Ten Outstanding Young Malaysians (TOYM) awards, hosted by Junior Chamber International (JCI) Miri, honoured ten exceptional individuals for their contributions across diverse fields, with half of the recipients hailing from Sarawak.

The ceremony, held at the Pullman Hotel, marked the first time the national event was hosted in Miri, underscoring the city’s growing prominence as a hub for youth leadership and innovation.

Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, Sarawak Minister of Transport and Senadin Assemblyman, emphasized humility and continuous service in his address, recalling his own 1986 TOYM recognition.

He praised Sarawak’s strong representation, noting that five recipients originated from the state, reflecting its vibrant youth talent pool.

He further encouraged all finalists to persist in their efforts, highlighting JCI’s core mission of “service to humanity”.

To support future leaders, he announced an RM5,000 Small Rural Project (MRP) grant for JCI Miri’s initiatives.

The event gathered community leaders, JCI members nationwide, and corporate representatives, aligning with its theme, “Trailblazing Change, Inspiring Generations”.

Beyond the awards, the program included forums and networking sessions to foster collaboration among young leaders.

Since its inception in 2010, the NCR New Initiative has similarly empowered rural communities, mirroring JCI’s focus on sustainable development.
