SARIKEI – Preparations are underway for the 2026 Inspire i-Talent Programme in Sarikei Division, with a coordination meeting held recently to ensure smooth implementation of the initiative.
The programme is scheduled to take place on 8 June 2026 at the Seberang Sarikei Village Multipurpose Hall.
The meeting, organised by the Sarikei Division Youth and Sports Office (PBSB Sarikei), brought together key stakeholders to discuss logistics, technical requirements, and collaborative strategies.
The session aimed to align all parties involved in delivering a programme that supports inclusivity and talent development among persons with disabilities (OKU).
A total of 30 OKU participants have been identified to take part in the programme, which is designed to provide opportunities for skill-building, personal growth, and community engagement.
Organisers emphasised that the initiative reflects Sarawak’s commitment to empowering individuals with disabilities by creating platforms for participation and recognition.
PBSB Sarikei has secured strategic cooperation from several agencies and institutions, including the Sarikei Division Social Welfare Department (JKM), Sarikei District Education Office (PPD Sarikei), Meradong District Education Office (PPD Meradong), SMK Bandar Bintangor, and multiple Community-Based Rehabilitation Centres (PDK) across Sarikei, Julau, Pakan, and Meradong. The Civil Defence Force (APM) Sarikei Division is also lending support to the programme.
Organisers highlighted that the Inspire i-Talent Programme is not only about showcasing abilities but also about fostering collaboration between government agencies, schools, and community organisations.
By working together, they aim to ensure that participants receive the guidance and resources needed to thrive.
The coordination meeting underscored the importance of inclusivity in community development, with stakeholders agreeing that such initiatives can help bridge gaps and promote equal opportunities.
PBSB Sarikei expressed optimism that with strong cooperation from all parties, the programme will be successfully implemented and serve as a model for similar efforts across Sarawak.
The Inspire i-Talent Programme is part of wider efforts to strengthen youth and community development in Sarawak, particularly by ensuring that persons with disabilities are given meaningful opportunities to contribute to society.
The upcoming event in Sarikei is expected to highlight the talents and resilience of participants while reinforcing the state’s commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.
