Sarikei Urges Residents to Fly Jalur Gemilang Ahead of National Day Celebration

Sarikei Urges Residents to Fly Jalur Gemilang Ahead of National Day Celebration

SARIKEI – Residents under the administration of the Sarikei District Council (MDS) have been called upon to proudly fly the Jalur Gemilang and the Sarawak Flag at their homes, business premises, and offices in the lead-up to the 2025 National Day celebration.

Sarikei District Council Chairman, Councillor Stephen Wong Kie Yong, said this initiative is aimed at fostering unity, patriotism, and community spirit while enlivening the festive atmosphere.

Sarikei has been chosen to host this year’s state-level National Day celebration, and this is indeed a great honour for all residents here.

Flying the Jalur Gemilang and Sarawak Flag is not only a symbol of patriotism, but also a reflection of our pride and commitment to safeguarding the peace and harmony we have achieved so far,” he said in a media statement on Monday.

Councillor Wong further noted that the Sarikei District Council had already issued official notices on August 11 to remind the public about the flag-flying directive.

The initiative underscores Sarawak’s commitment to unity and national solidarity, especially as Sarikei takes centre stage in hosting the 2025 state-level celebrations.
