SARIKEI, 26 May 2025: A peaceful early morning turned tense for a resident of Rumah Angkang, Kerubong, Selalang when a large python slithered into their kitchen. The unexpected intruder was caught safely by the Sarikei Fire and Rescue Department (BBP) after a swift emergency response.
According to BBP Sarikei Chief, Arrahman Chik, the department received a distress call at 5.47 am from a worried homeowner who discovered the snake coiled inside the kitchen.

“A team of firefighters was immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they found a python resting in the kitchen area,” said Arrahman when contacted this morning.
Using a professional snake snaring tool, the rescue team worked quickly and efficiently to secure the reptile. The capture operation lasted approximately 34 minutes, and the entire special rescue was completed by 6.51 am.
No injuries or damages were reported in the incident.
“The python was safely removed from the premises without harm and will be handed over to the relevant wildlife authorities for relocation,” Arrahman added.
This is not the first time such an incident has occurred in Sarikei. With the monsoon season ongoing and rural houses being near forested areas, it is common for snakes and other wildlife to seek shelter or food, unintentionally entering homes.
Residents, especially in rural settlements, are urged to stay vigilant and immediately contact the fire department if they encounter dangerous wildlife.
