SELANGOR – More than 1,000 athletes from water supply operators nationwide gathered in Selangor this week for the All-Malaysia Water Supply Games (SBAM) 2025, which kicked off at the MBSJ Arena on Thursday in a vivid opening ceremony.
The event was officially inaugurated by Deputy Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir, amid a vibrant array of performances and a parade showcasing contingents from each state.
Representing Sarawak at the event were Ir Ts Awg Mohammad Fadillah Awg Redzuan, Director of the Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) and head of the SBAM Sarawak team, alongside Malseni Jamal, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Sarawak Water Sdn Bhd. They joined athletes in a spirited send-off as the biennial event unfolded.
Scheduled from 21 to 25 August 2025, the SBAM serves as a key platform for fostering camaraderie among employees in the water supply sector and encouraging healthier lifestyles through athletic competition.
The Sarawak contingent, noted for its resolute spirit and competitive drive, emerged as a standout participant in the championship.
Beyond the games, the occasion underscores the broader significance of water infrastructure collaboration across Malaysia, reflecting shared values of unity, wellness, and professional solidarity in the vital utilities sector.
