Sarawak Civil Service Wins Friendly Match Against Federal Counterparts

KUCHING – The Sarawak Civil Service (SCS) Department Heads team claimed victory in a friendly bowling match against their federal counterparts from the Sarawak Federal Civil Service Department Heads (SUPS) team. The event took place on Tuesday evening at Megalanes Sarawak and was marked by a lively and sportsmanlike atmosphere.

Led by Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, the SCS team emerged triumphant after registering a total of 3,277 pinfalls. Their opponents, the SUPS team helmed by Sarawak Federal Secretary Dato Ahmad Nadzri Mohd Hassan, tallied 3,131 pinfalls after two competitive rounds.

The friendly match featured 30 players and kicked off following a group photo session around 8.30pm. It was also graced by the presence of several high-ranking Sarawak and Federal government officials.

In the individual men’s category, Richard Lon, Director of the Immigration and Labour Management Unit, clinched the top spot with 340 pinfalls. He was followed by a representative from the Teacher Education Institute (IPG) Batu Lintang Campus and Lamat Nyalau, Director of the Sarawak Youth and Sports Department, who secured second and third places respectively.

Sharifah Rohana Datu Wan Alwi, Director of the Human Resource Management and Development Unit, led the women’s category with 194 pinfalls. She was trailed by the Kuching Division Resident and an officer from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who finished second and third.

The match was part of an initiative aimed at fostering stronger ties between senior state and federal officials, while also encouraging a healthy lifestyle among civil servants.

The event concluded with a prize-giving ceremony and a commemorative photo session to celebrate the spirit of unity and camaraderie among participants.
