KUCHING – The Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) recently took part in a live demonstration showcasing advanced communication and support technologies for border patrol operations. The session, held at Kem Penrissen, was attended by Dato Ir. Ts. Sudarnoto Osman, Chief Executive Officer of SDEC.
The event formed part of the 1DMI-DP Project, which focuses on strengthening border patrol capabilities through modern technology.
The demonstration highlighted several innovations, including the 4×4 Drone Carrier known as Hitux, drone surveillance systems, and the DABAT Secured Communication System. These tools are designed to enhance operational efficiency and improve coordination among patrol units.
A connectivity briefing was also conducted, outlining the integration of communication equipment under the 1DMI-DP framework.
Organisers explained that the system aims to provide secure, reliable channels for field operations, ensuring that patrol teams can maintain effective communication even in challenging environments.
The 4×4 Drone Carrier (Hitux) was presented as a versatile platform capable of supporting surveillance drones in remote areas.
This technology is expected to assist patrol units in monitoring border zones more effectively, reducing reliance on manpower while expanding coverage.
Drone surveillance, meanwhile, offers real-time monitoring capabilities, enabling rapid response to potential threats or irregular activities.
The DABAT Secured Communication System was introduced as a critical component of the project, designed to safeguard sensitive information and ensure uninterrupted communication between patrol teams and command centres.
By integrating these systems, the 1DMI-DP Project seeks to strengthen border security infrastructure and provide operational resilience.
Dato Ir. Ts. Sudarnoto Osman’s presence at the demonstration underscored SDEC’s role in supporting technological innovation within Sarawak.
His attendance reflected the corporation’s commitment to exploring digital solutions that can be applied across various sectors, including security and defence.
The live capability session at Kem Penrissen highlighted the growing importance of technology in border management.
With increasing demands for secure and efficient operations, projects such as 1DMI-DP demonstrate how digital tools can be harnessed to enhance national security while promoting innovation in Sarawak’s digital economy.
