KUCHING – The Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) has formalised a strategic partnership with the World Innovation, Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) to establish the WITSA Global AI Ecosystem Network in Sarawak (WITSA GAIN@Sarawak).
This collaboration marks a significant milestone in positioning Sarawak as a growing hub for artificial intelligence (AI) development and innovation.
The initiative is expected to create new opportunities for knowledge exchange, industry collaboration, and global partnerships, strengthening Sarawak’s role in the digital economy.
The partnership reflects a shared vision between SDEC and WITSA to build a stronger digital future through cross-border cooperation.
By fostering ecosystem development and AI-driven growth, both organisations aim to accelerate technological progress while ensuring inclusivity and sustainability.
WITSA, a global consortium representing the ICT industry across more than 80 countries, has long championed international collaboration in technology and services.
Its partnership with SDEC is seen as a step towards integrating Sarawak into the global AI landscape, enabling local innovators to connect with international networks and resources.
SDEC officials noted that the establishment of WITSA GAIN@Sarawak will provide a platform for local businesses, researchers, and policymakers to engage with global stakeholders.
This will not only enhance Sarawak’s digital capabilities but also encourage the adoption of AI solutions across sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, and smart city development.
The collaboration is aligned with Sarawak’s broader digital transformation agenda, which seeks to harness emerging technologies to drive economic growth, improve governance, and enhance quality of life for its citizens.
By embedding AI into its development strategy, Sarawak aims to remain competitive in the global digital economy.
Industry observers have highlighted that initiatives like WITSA GAIN@Sarawak are crucial for smaller economies seeking to expand their technological footprint.
With AI increasingly shaping industries worldwide, Sarawak’s proactive approach demonstrates its commitment to innovation and sustainable growth.
The partnership is expected to pave the way for future projects, including training programmes, research collaborations, and international conferences, further solidifying Sarawak’s reputation as a forward-looking digital hub.
