KUCHING, April 11 – The search for a 34-year-old man who reportedly fell from the Tun Salahuddin Bridge earlier today has been paused and will continue tomorrow.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the search was stopped due to fading daylight and no new leads being found.

Rescue efforts had started earlier today and focused on a 50-metre area from the spot where the man is believed to have fallen. Surface searches were done using gripping irons.

According to Bomba, advanced tools like sonar scans from the Sarawak Coast Guard and drones from the police force were used to locate the victim. Rescuers also dived into the Sarawak River around 3.30pm but found no signs of the man.
“The operation has been called off for today and will resume tomorrow,” said Bomba in a statement.
Kuching District Police Acting Chief, Supt Merbin Lisa, said in another statement that police, Air Operations Force (PGU), and the Marine Police are all involved in helping with the search operation.
The man is feared to have drowned after falling from the bridge. It was reported that his younger brother had tried to talk him out of it before the incident happened.
Emergency teams from Bomba Padungan, the Royal Malaysia Police, and the Civil Defence Force quickly responded to the scene and secured the area.
Authorities are urging the public to avoid speculating about the case and allow the SAR teams to continue their work.
