SEBUYAU – His Excellency the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, together with his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, joined the local community for breakfast at the Sebuyau Food Court on Sunday morning before continuing the D’Astana Journey to Lingga.
The couple arrived at 7.00 am, accompanied by Sharifah Nong-Jasima, daughter of Sharifah Fariah, and her husband Encik Mohamad Nur Hakeem.
Their presence was warmly welcomed by Sarawak Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications YB Dato Sri Haji Julaihi bin Haji Narawi; Sebuyau District Officer Encik Ayuradiman bin Bujang; and community leaders from across the district.
During the visit, Tun Pehin Sri and Toh Puan enjoyed traditional delicacies including pulut panggang, kuih rangin, and kuih tapai, which highlighted the rich culinary heritage of the area.
They also took time to greet hawkers and residents, engaging with people from diverse backgrounds who had gathered to meet the state’s leaders.
Before departing for Lingga, a prayer for safe travels was led by Alfadhil Ustaz Anwar Musadad bin Muhamad Tajuddin, Imam I of Samarahan Division.
The Governor and his wife expressed their gratitude to all parties involved in hosting them, particularly YB Dato Sri Julaihi and the Sebuyau community, for their hospitality throughout the visit.
Tun Pehin Sri and Toh Puan also conveyed their prayers for continued prosperity and well-being for families, relatives, and residents of Sebuyau.
Their interaction with the local community reflected the close ties between Sarawak’s leadership and the people, reinforcing the spirit of unity and mutual respect.
The breakfast gathering formed part of the wider Kembara D’Astana ke Lingga programme, which aims to strengthen community bonds and highlight cultural traditions across Sarawak.
The event in Sebuyau showcased not only the leaders’ accessibility but also the importance of local customs in fostering harmony and goodwill.
