Sarawak Governor Attends Hajj Farewell Ceremony in Sebuyau

SEBUYAU – His Excellency the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, together with his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, attended a farewell ceremony in conjunction with their upcoming pilgrimage to Mecca. The event was held at Al-Muflihin Mosque, Sebuyau, on Saturday evening.

The Governor’s arrival was accompanied by Sarawak Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications, YB Dato Sri Haji Julaihi bin Haji Narawi, and warmly received by Samarahan Division Resident Mr Mohamad Irwan bin Bahari Bujang, Sebuyau District Officer Mr Ayuradiman bin Bujang, as well as tribal and community leaders from the district. Pilgrims and local residents also gathered to witness the occasion.

The ceremony commenced with Maghrib prayers, followed by the recitation of Surah Yassin. A farewell prayer was then led by Alfadhil Ustaz Bahrin bin Kawi, Samarahan Division Islamic Religious Officer, who also delivered a lecture titled Mengejar Haji Mabrur. His talk highlighted the virtues of the pilgrimage and its significance in strengthening faith.

During the event, Tun Pehin Sri presented a contribution to the Chairman of Al-Muflihin Mosque before joining congregational Isha prayers.

Following the prayers, he and Toh Puan took time to greet attendees, including tribal leaders and community members, in a gesture of unity and gratitude.

The ceremony drew approximately 500 relatives and residents from Kampung Seberang, Kampung Sawmill, Kampung Baru, and surrounding areas.

Their presence reflected strong community support and collective prayers for the safe journey and spiritual fulfilment of the Governor and his wife.

Also present were Sharifah Fariah’s daughter, Sharifah Nong-Jasima, and her husband, Mr Mohamad Nur Hakeem, who joined the gathering alongside other dignitaries.

The atmosphere of the evening was marked by solemnity and thankfulness, underscoring the deep respect and affection of the local community for the Governor and his family.

The event highlighted the importance of religious institutions in fostering unity and providing a platform for collective blessings as Sarawak’s leaders embark on their pilgrimage.
