Sebuyau KMKK Meeting Reinforces Grassroots Leadership and Governance

SEBUYAU – The role of Community and Tribal Leaders (KMKK) in strengthening grassroots governance was reaffirmed during the Sebuyau District Level KMKK Management Engagement Meeting held on Friday.

The session, attended by 80 representatives of community leadership, served as a platform to streamline the delivery of government services and enhance communication between district authorities and local communities.

District Officer Ayuradiman Bujang emphasised that integrity and proactive leadership are crucial for KMKK to ensure issues raised by the people are channelled accurately and addressed effectively by the relevant agencies.

He noted that strong leadership at the grassroots level remains the backbone of governance in rural areas.

Discussions during the meeting centred on reinforcing KMKK’s role as a key agent in information dissemination, coordination of local concerns, and acting as the main liaison for government policies and initiatives.

Particular focus was placed on development projects, welfare programmes, and community safety measures.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of KMKK in bridging the gap between the government and the people, ensuring that policies are implemented smoothly at the village level.

By strengthening these roles, KMKK is expected to improve responsiveness to community needs and foster greater trust in local governance.

In a move to ensure continuity of structured leadership, six new Community Leaders and Tribal Leaders were appointed.

The appointments covered Kampung Beliong Hulu, Kampung Tambai Bajong, Kampung Belimbing Besi, Kampung Tebelu Hilir, Kampung Lutong Sebangan, and Kampung Sega Baru.

The inclusion of new leaders is seen as a step towards sustaining effective governance and ensuring that every village has strong representation to voice local concerns.

The Sebuyau KMKK meeting reflects Sarawak’s broader commitment to empowering grassroots leadership, recognising that effective governance begins at the community level.

With structured appointments and strengthened communication channels, KMKK continues to play a vital role in supporting development and safeguarding welfare across the district.
