SEBUYAU – A water supply project worth about RM15 million in Sebuyau is progressing ahead of schedule and is expected to be completed before November 2026, according to the Sarawak Ministry of Utilities and Telecommunications.
Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications Sarawak Dato Sri Haji Julaihi bin Haji Narawi visited the Sebuyau ‘Acute System’ Project site on 22 September to review the latest progress of the works.
The site visit followed the minister’s inauguration of a pipe connection in Sagu Village earlier on the same day as part of efforts to improve water supply infrastructure in the area.
During the visit, Julaihi was briefed on the project’s implementation and current status by Ts. Adzahari bin Baini, Water Engineer for the Samarahan Division.
The project is currently showing positive progress and is reported to be ahead of its scheduled timeline. Based on the latest developments, construction is expected to reach completion before November.
The Sebuyau ‘Acute System’ Project is being implemented to strengthen the existing water supply system and address water supply requirements in Sebuyau and surrounding areas.
With an estimated value of RM15 million, the project forms part of infrastructure efforts aimed at improving the capacity and reliability of the local water supply network.
Once completed, the upgraded system is expected to provide additional capacity and support a more stable and continuous supply of treated water to residents in Sebuyau and nearby communities.
The project is particularly relevant to local residents who depend on the existing water infrastructure for household and community needs. Improvements to system capacity are intended to support the area’s water requirements as demand continues to be served through the network.
The latest site assessment allowed the minister and technical officers to review the implementation directly and receive an update on the works being carried out.
The reported progress ahead of schedule also indicates that the project is moving towards its expected completion period, with further work required before the upgraded system can be fully brought into service.
The visit was attended by Sebuyau District Officer Encik Ayuradiman bin Bujang and Ir. Ts. Awang Muhamad Ayahtullah, Chief Assistant Director (Distribution and Non-Revenue Water).
The ministry’s continued monitoring of the project is intended to track implementation and ensure the planned water supply improvements progress towards completion.
Once the works are completed, the project is expected to contribute to strengthening water supply infrastructure in Sebuyau and the surrounding areas, with the stated objective of providing residents with a more reliable and consistent service.
