Security Guard Dies in Motorcycle Accident During Patrol at Vista Perdana Miri

MIRI – A tragic incident unfolded yesterday evening in the Desa Bahagia residential area, Vista Perdana, Permyjaya, when a 74-year-old security guard lost his life after his motorcycle skidded while on patrol. The accident, which occurred at around 4:00 pm, shocked the local community as the victim, a dedicated security guard, was performing his routine duties to ensure the safety of the residents.

According to Miri District Police Chief, ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah, the security guard was conducting a patrol when he lost control of his motorcycle. “The motorcycle the victim was riding is believed to have lost control before skidding onto the left shoulder of the road,” he stated in a statement issued last night.

As a result of the fall, the victim sustained severe injuries to the left side of his face. Despite immediate medical attention, he was later confirmed dead at Miri Hospital at approximately 12:15 pm on Sunday. The tragic event has left the community grieving, as many expressed their condolences and shock over the untimely death.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which pertains to accidents caused by reckless or dangerous driving. Police are urging anyone who might have information related to the accident to come forward. Investigating Officer, Inspector Mohd Faizul Ab.
