SERIAN, 29 April 2025 – The upcoming Serian Agrofest 2025, scheduled to take place at Dataran Bandar Mutiara Tebedu, is expected to welcome more than 4,000 visitors, including international guests from West Kalimantan, Indonesia. The event is poised to revitalise interest and participation in the agriculture sector while promoting regional agri-based industries.

During a press conference on Monday, Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development, Datuk Martin Ben, emphasised that the Agrofest will highlight the talents and products of farmers, livestock breeders, and inland fishermen, as well as promote digital agriculture technologies.
“This programme gives the Department of Agriculture a direct platform to reach out to its stakeholders and increase community involvement through educational and interactive activities,” said Martin, who is also the Kedup Assemblyman.
The festival, which will be officially launched on 23 May 2025 by Minister Dato Sri Dr. Stephen Rundi Utom, is slated to become an annual signature event under the Serian Division’s official calendar. Visitors from Tebedu, Serian, Siburan, and cross-border regions are expected to take part in the festivities.
Over 70 booths will be set up, showcasing government agencies, private companies, local entrepreneurs, and agricultural products. The event is projected to generate RM100,000 in revenue, reinforcing the economic potential of community-driven agriculture.
Among the exciting line-ups are:
- Agri-tech exhibitions
- Commodity planting workshops
- Fish breeding and lobster cooking demos
- Agricultural product sales
- Children’s colouring contests
- Karaoke and tuak competitions
- An Agrofest concert
Adding a cultural flair, the event will also feature a vibrant Gawai ‘Nginyon’ Parade, highlighting the rich ethnic diversity within Serian Division.
The Serian Agrofest 2025 is part of the wider Agrofest series being organised statewide, including in Limbang, Pakan, Spaoh, and Sibu, culminating in the grand Sarawak Agrofest later in the year.
The press event also saw attendance by Bukit Semuja Assemblyman John Ilus, Tebedu Assemblyman Dr. Simon Sinang Bada, and Serian Division Resident Caroline Cleophas Joseph. — UKAS EDITION
