KUCHING – The Serian community has shown strong support for the World #QuranHour 2026 programme, which was organised by Pustaka Negeri Sarawak and its synergy partners.
The event, held on 11 March 2026, brought together participants and exhibitors in a collaborative effort to promote the values of the Quran through public engagement.
Visitors to the programme were welcomed at the Pustaka booth, alongside displays from other partner organisations.
The booths provided information, interactive activities, and resources to encourage greater understanding of the Quran’s teachings and its relevance in daily life.
The initiative formed part of a wider movement that has gained traction across Malaysia in recent years, aiming to unite communities through collective recitation and reflection.
During the event, YB Datuk Dr. Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Junaidi took time to visit the exhibitor booths, engaging with participants and acknowledging the contributions of those involved.
His presence underscored the importance of community participation in fostering religious and cultural awareness.
Pustaka Negeri Sarawak expressed its gratitude to all exhibitors, noting that their cooperation was vital in ensuring the success of the programme. In a statement, the organisers recorded their “highest appreciation” for the collaborative spirit shown by partners and participants alike.
World #QuranHour, first introduced in Malaysia in 2015, has since grown into an international movement, with millions of Muslims worldwide taking part annually.
The programme encourages individuals and communities to dedicate one hour to reading, understanding, and reflecting upon the Quran.
In Sarawak, the initiative has been embraced by local communities, schools, and institutions, highlighting the state’s commitment to nurturing spiritual values alongside social development.
The Serian community’s encouragement of this year’s event reflects a broader trend of grassroots involvement in religious programmes. By supporting World #QuranHour, local organisations and individuals contribute to strengthening unity and reinforcing shared values across diverse communities.
The 2026 edition of World #QuranHour continues to build on past successes, with organisers emphasising inclusivity and accessibility. Through partnerships with libraries, educational institutions, and government agencies, the programme seeks to reach wider audiences and inspire collective reflection.
With strong backing from both state leaders and community members, World #QuranHour 2026 in Sarawak stands as a testament to the enduring relevance of the Quran in guiding values, fostering unity, and encouraging reflection in modern society.
