SIBURAN — The Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) and village chiefs of Kampung Sibenyis have been encouraged to carry out structured and well-coordinated development planning, following the village’s official recognition under the Siburan District Administration about four years ago.
Sarawak Deputy Minister of Transport (Air & Road), Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, made the call during the Water Tank Handover Ceremony held at the Kampung Sibenyis Chieftain’s House Compound on Wednesday.
Dr Jerip highlighted the need for long-term planning that includes essential infrastructure such as clean water supply, a multi-purpose hall, and official documentation of the village’s overall development vision.
“I suggest submitting an official application to the relevant authorities, especially for the clean water supply, which is a basic need,” he said. “It is important that the JKKK collaborates closely with government agencies to effectively implement these projects.”
He further emphasised the Sarawak Government’s continued commitment to empowering newly recognised villages and supporting their development in rural areas.
As part of that support, the Mambong State Assemblyman also announced a Minor Rural Project (MRP) allocation of RM50,000 to the Kampung Sibenyis JKKK. The funds are earmarked for governance management and the implementation of local community activities.
Dr Jerip expressed hope that with proper planning and government collaboration, Kampung Sibenyis could become a model for rural development under the Siburan District’s jurisdiction.
