BELAGA – The Sibu District National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) intensified its fight against drug abuse with the implementation of Operation Cegah Bilangan 11 of 2026 in Sungai Asap on 12 April.
Nine AADK Sibu branch officers were deployed during the operation, which focused on detecting drug addicts and abusers in rural areas.
The initiative forms part of the agency’s proactive strategy to provide treatment and rehabilitation services while breaking the chain of demand for illicit substances.
Initial urine screening tests revealed that five men, aged between 20 and 35, tested positive for methamphetamine (syabu).
All individuals were detained for further investigation under the Drug and Substance Abusers (Treatment & Rehabilitation) Act 1983.
AADK emphasised that periodic operations such as this demonstrate its ongoing commitment to protecting communities from the destructive impact of drugs.
The agency highlighted that these efforts are aligned with the MADANI Malaysia agenda, which seeks to create a safer and more prosperous environment for all citizens.
In addition to enforcement, AADK continues to encourage voluntary participation in rehabilitation programmes.
The agency stressed that individuals struggling with drug or substance abuse should come forward to seek treatment before enforcement action is taken.
Voluntary rehabilitation services are confidential, free of charge, and designed to provide a second chance for those determined to change their lives.
AADK assured the public that its rehabilitation programmes are safe and supportive, offering opportunities for recovery without legal implications.
The initiative aims to improve quality of life and reintegrate individuals into society as productive citizens.
For assistance, advisory services, or support, AADK has urged individuals to contact its toll-free line at 1-800-22-2235 or via WhatsApp at 019-626 2233.
