Grassroots Leaders in Siburan Strengthen Roles Through KMKK & JKKK Workshop

SERIAN – A total of 108 grassroots leaders from the Siburan District, comprising Community and Tribal Heads (KMKK) and members of the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), took part in a strengthening workshop held at the Serian Division Sarawak Government Administration Centre Hall on Friday.

The programme was officiated by Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development of Sarawak and Tarat Assemblyman.

In his address, he emphasised the importance of enhancing leadership skills at the community level to ensure alignment with the state’s broader development agenda.

The one-day workshop covered key areas including KMKK policy and governance, the roles and responsibilities of JKKK, and the preservation of cultural heritage among the Bidayuh and Iban communities.

Participants were reminded of their responsibilities as custodians of customs and traditions, as well as their role in maintaining harmony and cultural identity within their villages.

Sessions also focused on practical skills such as meeting management and the preparation of official minutes. These elements were introduced to improve transparency, strengthen documentation practices, and enhance communication between grassroots leaders and government agencies.

The Siburan District Office facilitated the programme, ensuring that participants gained exposure to the policies and aspirations of the Sarawak Government.

This alignment is intended to help village leaders coordinate development projects more effectively and address community challenges with greater efficiency.
