SIFMA 2025 Dr. Geraldine Law’s Vision Bringing Sarawak Music to the World

SIFMA 2025: Dr. Geraldine Law’s Vision Bringing Sarawak Music to the World

KUCHING – The Sarawak International Festival of Music and Arts (SIFMA) returns for its 6th edition this 6–7 December at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly, promising another unforgettable showcase of talent and culture. At the helm of this international event is Dr. Geraldine Law, Chairman of SIFMA and Director of the International Music House, whose dedication has turned the festival into a prominent platform for both local and global performers.

Dr. Law has spent years nurturing Sarawak’s young talent, creating opportunities for students and emerging performers to share the stage with seasoned professionals. Her vision is clear: to use SIFMA as a platform where Sarawak’s rich cultural heritage meets international artistic traditions. “Every year, we get to see a beautiful showcase of Sarawak’s heritage and young talent,” she said. “It’s about bringing out the best of Sarawak and presenting it to an international audience.”

Under her leadership, SIFMA has evolved beyond a simple music festival. It has become a celebration of people, creativity, and cultural exchange, inviting audiences to explore the diverse traditions of Sarawak while enjoying world-class performances. Dr. Law emphasizes that the festival also encourages visitors to experience Kuching, from its vibrant streets to its historic landmarks, making it an immersive cultural journey.

As the countdown begins to this year’s festival, Dr. Law expresses hope that more visitors, both local and international, will attend to witness Sarawak’s talents in full display. “SIFMA is more than a festival; it’s a platform for discovery and collaboration,” she added.

With Dr. Geraldine Law’s guidance, SIFMA continues to strengthen Sarawak’s presence on the global arts stage, providing a unique experience where tradition meets innovation. Mark your calendar for 6–7 December and join in celebrating music, arts, and culture at SIFMA 2025.
