KUCHING – Let me start by saying it clearly: the show was a spectacular success. But for me, the most thrilling part was the wonderful surprise of it all—where on earth did we find all these brilliant local musicians and artists? The answer, of course, was right here at home all along. SIFMA gave them the platform, and there they were, performing their hearts out right before our eyes.
That performance was only the finale. The real story was written in the weeks before, in the tireless practices, the shared focus, and the powerful collaboration. Night after night, our orchestras rehearsed, and our traditional and contemporary dancers honed their craft. That process of coming together, of building teamwork and trust, is what truly laid the foundation for what we saw on stage.
Seeing it all come together so flawlessly was a testament to the growing skill of our entire creative community—not just the performers, but the production crews, technicians, and every behind-the-scenes professional. Their collective effort is what made the “Sarawak Boleh” spirit burn so brightly.
None of this would have been possible without the incredible organisers and team leaders who meticulously handled the immense puzzle of visas, accommodation, logistics, and care for every guest. They built the stage, in every sense, for this magic to happen.
The next thing I would like to add is the support from the ready benefactors whose generous contributions, in both cash and kind, positively impacted the running of the event. Their support allowed the organisers to avoid taking shortcuts or reducing performers’ benefits due to monetary constraints.
SIFMA did more than host a two-night event. It proved we have the talent and the teamwork to produce world-class performances. Most importantly, it gave our homegrown artists the stage and the confidence to pursue excellence as a group. It showed me that Sarawak isn’t just hosting events — we are nurturing a legacy, and we are building it with soul, together.
