Simanggang Assemblyman Inspects Sri Aman Projects

SRI AMAN – The implementation status of multiple development initiatives within the Simanggang area has been reviewed by its local Assemblyman during a series of working visits. The inspection aimed to verify that projects are proceeding on schedule and delivering intended benefits to the community.

Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, who serves as the Deputy Minister of Talent Development for Sarawak and the State Assemblyman for Simanggang, conducted the oversight tour. His first stop was the Sri Aman District Council (MDSA), where he received detailed briefings on several key projects.

Among the developments discussed were the Benak Observation Tower Project, the Feather Fish Base Project, and the Sri Aman Peace Park. The progress of various schemes under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) was also examined during the meeting.

Later in the day, the delegation proceeded to the Sri Aman Division Irrigation and Drainage Department (DID). There, the focus shifted to critical infrastructure concerning water management and flood mitigation.

Officials briefed the Assemblyman on several ongoing works. These included an upgrade to the drainage system at the Darul Syakirin Mosque in Kampung Muhibbah Sri Aman and the construction of river fortifications at Sungai Suang near Rh Jeluka in Sabu.

Further drainage improvement projects in residential areas such as Taman Kurniaman Phase IIPasir PanasTaman TiaraKampung Resak, and Kampung Muhibbah were also on the agenda for review.

In a brief statement, Datuk Francis Harden emphasised that the primary purpose of his visit was to assess the advancement of these projects. He specifically highlighted the need to address projects that have not yet commenced despite already receiving allocation approval.

He stated that each implementing agency bears the responsibility for accelerating project work once funding is secured. He further cautioned against bureaucratic obstacles that can cause significant implementation delays.

The Assemblyman added that the development being carried out is a direct result of Sarawak’s ability to manage its own resources sustainably. The proceeds from this management are subsequently returned to the populace in the form of improved public facilities and infrastructure.

His tour also included a site visit to inspect the progress of a concrete bridge currently under construction. This bridge will span the Undop River in Kampung Beleti, Sabu, and is expected to greatly improve connectivity for local residents.
