SIMUNJAN – The construction of a new roof at the Simunjan Esplanade is progressing steadily, according to recent site reports. Located at Lots 113 and 114, this project is part of ongoing efforts to enhance public facilities for residents and visitors alike.
Work is currently focused on assembling the main steel framework on-site, while parallel fabrication of components is taking place off-site to ensure everything is ready according to schedule.
The project team consists of eight personnel: a site supervisor, two equipment operators, and five general labourers, all working to ensure each phase aligns with the council’s project plan.
“Overall, the project is under control and moving smoothly,” a council spokesperson said. Favourable weather, with extended sunny periods, has helped avoid delays often caused by heavy rain.
The Simunjan District Council continues to oversee the project closely. They have committed to maintaining strict monitoring until completion, ensuring the work meets both the schedule and the expected quality and safety standards.
Once finished, the new roof will provide shelter at the esplanade, making the waterfront more comfortable and accessible for public use throughout the day.
This development is part of the broader initiative to upgrade recreational infrastructure in the Simunjan district, creating improved community spaces for social gatherings and activities.
