KUCHING – Sarawak Water Sdn Bhd has integrated its digital services with SarawakPass through a Single Sign-On (SSO) system, giving customers a centralised way to access essential water-related services.

The integration was unveiled at the International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak 2026 (IDECS26) at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, where the initiative was presented alongside digital service platforms Talikhidmat and SEB Cares.

The move forms part of Sarawak’s wider push to expand digital public services and create more connected systems for residents. Through the SSO integration, users can use their SarawakPass credentials to access participating services without having to manage separate login credentials for each platform.

The development is intended to make access to Sarawak Water’s digital services more straightforward while also supporting a more consistent approach to authentication and online service delivery.

The launch was witnessed by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Dato Sri Haji Julaihi Narawi, and State Secretary and Sarawak Water chairman Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.

Other government officials and representatives from agencies involved in Sarawak’s digitalisation efforts were also present at the event.

The integration places Sarawak Water within the growing SarawakPass ecosystem, which is designed to provide a common digital identity and access point for participating services. Such arrangements can reduce the need for users to repeatedly create and remember different account credentials when dealing with multiple government-linked platforms.

For Sarawak Water, the initiative represents a shift towards a more digitally integrated customer service model. The utility provider said its approach to service delivery extends beyond the provision of safe, reliable and sustainable water supplies to include digital solutions designed around the needs of customers and communities.

The SSO arrangement also reflects the increasing role of digital infrastructure in the delivery of essential public and utility services. As more administrative and customer interactions move online, secure authentication and interoperability between platforms have become important components of digital service design.

The initiative was developed with support from the Sarawak Civil Service Digitalisation Unit (SCSDU) and the Sarawak Government. Their involvement highlights the role of state-level coordination in connecting individual service platforms within a broader digital ecosystem.

The integration with SarawakPass is also expected to support greater consistency across digital touchpoints as Sarawak continues developing its digital economy and public-sector technology infrastructure.

The announcement comes as IDECS 26 brings together government, industry and technology stakeholders to discuss developments in Sarawak’s digital economy. The conference provides a platform for initiatives aimed at expanding digital adoption and improving the way technology is used across public and private services.

For customers, the practical significance of the Sarawak Water integration lies in having a more unified route to online services. Rather than treating each digital platform as a separate system, the SSO approach links participating services through a shared authentication framework.

Sarawak Water said the initiative forms part of its continuing effort to modernise customer engagement while contributing to Sarawak’s broader objective of becoming a more digitally connected state. — Sarawak Daily
