SAMARAHAN CITY: The 5th Edition of the Simunjan Festival will be held in full swing for four days starting 2 October to 5 October 2025, located in Simunjan Town.
The announcement was made by Simunjan State Assemblyman (ADUN), Awla Dris, in a media conference held at the Meeting Room, Samarahan Division Resident Office on Tuesday.
According to him, the bi-annual festival is expected to attract over 100,000 visitors, with more than 20 programs and activities curated to attract participants from all walks of life.
“Among the main attractions is the Simunjan Fiesta Regatta Competition that will take place on the banks of the Batang Sadong River,” said Awla.
As many as six race categories will be contested with total cash prizes of RM75,500, including a RM20,000 grand prize for the coveted title ‘Raja Sungai Festa Simunjan 2025’.
Other major highlights include the Bike Gathering, which has attracted international participation including from Brunei Darussalam, Pontianak (Indonesia), Sabah, Kuching, and Samarahan.
“Brunei sent around 100 participants, while from Pontianak, Indonesia more than 280 high-powered motorcycles are expected,” he added.
Simunjan Festival 2025 also features a wide range of engaging activities including:

- Battle of the Band
- Open Futsal Tournament
- e-Sports & Folk Games
- Traditional Cooking Competition
- Legendary Cake & Bingka Bake-Off
- Children’s Fashion Show & Colouring Contest
- Health Mini Carnival
- Stage Shows by Local and National Artists
The inauguration ceremony is expected to be officiated by Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, on 3 October 2025, followed by the Official Launch of Simunjan Kitchen.
The festival’s grand finale on 5 October 2025 will include the Bidar 30 Men’s Cycling Race and a closing ceremony expected to be officiated by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.
A Closing Night Concert at the People’s Stage featuring top Malaysian artists and local talents will mark the end of the festival.
“The Simunjan Festival is not just an entertainment event. It plays a significant role in empowering local culture, boosting the economy, and uniting communities,” Awla said, urging people to participate in large numbers.
