KUCHING – The RM150,000 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project at SK Satria Jaya has been successfully completed, resolving a sinkhole that had posed safety concerns for both students and teachers.
YB Wilfred Yap, accompanied by officers from the Public Works Department (JKR), visited the school to inspect the completed work.
The sinkhole has now been fully repaired and stabilised under JKR’s supervision, ensuring a safe learning environment.
In addition to fixing the sinkhole, the RTP project included installing new windows and security grills in the school’s science laboratory, along with general repairs to enhance safety and the overall functionality of the facilities.
YB Wilfred Yap highlighted that the visit reflects his commitment to ensuring projects are not only approved but properly completed and delivered.
“Student safety is non-negotiable. I am pleased that the sinkhole issue has been fully resolved and that additional improvements were made to enhance the school environment,” he said.
He expressed his gratitude to JKR, the contractor, and the school administration for their cooperation in completing the project.
He also reaffirmed his dedication to addressing infrastructure needs within the Kota Sentosa constituency, emphasising the importance of safe and well-maintained facilities for the community.
The successful completion of this RTP project underscores the government’s ongoing commitment to improving school infrastructure, prioritising safety, and enhancing the quality of educational environments across Sarawak.
