SONG — The first phase of the Song Open Stadium upgrading project has reached 57.54% completion and remains on schedule, with full completion expected by 24 November 2025.
State Assemblyman for Bukit Semuja, John Ilus, said the renovation work includes several key upgrades such as:
- Replacement of the grandstand roof
- New spectator seats
- Renovated toilets, VIP rooms, waiting rooms, staff offices, stores, and technical rooms
- Full repainting of the stadium complex
“This stadium is a key facility for the people of Song, providing space for sports and recreational activities. Once completed, it will greatly benefit the local community,” he said during a working visit to the project site on Tuesday.
John also noted that the visit served as a reference for best practices in planning the upcoming Serian Stadium upgrade.
The first phase further includes enhancements to the sports infrastructure such as:
- Upgraded football field and running track
- Facilities for long jump, shot put, discus, high jump
- Field drainage system
- Construction of a rubber safety wall
The RM4.8 million project, which began on 25 November 2024, is being undertaken by Fias Enterprise with a 12-month implementation period.
Looking ahead, Phase Two will include the installation of recessed lighting, construction of a stadium fence, and parking facilities, aimed at delivering a complete and comfortable sports venue for the people of Song.
Also present during the visit were Katibas Assemblyman Lidam Assan and other distinguished guests.
