SPAOH – Two farm road upgrading projects in Sungai Rian Anyut and Jitu Anyut have been completed ahead of schedule, improving access for residents travelling to agricultural areas in Spaoh.
A handover ceremony was held following the completion of the projects, which were implemented under the Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA) programme.
The two projects began on 19 June 2026 and were originally scheduled for completion on 18 November 2026. The works were completed ahead of the contractual schedule, allowing residents to use the upgraded routes sooner than initially planned.
The improvements were carried out to provide safer, more comfortable and more reliable access to agricultural areas used by residents, particularly those within the N.37 Bukit Saban state constituency.
Farm roads play an important role in connecting rural communities with their agricultural land. Improved road conditions can make it easier for residents to travel between their homes and farms while also supporting the movement of crops and other agricultural produce.
With the upgrading works completed, residents in the affected areas are expected to have better connectivity to their farms. The improved routes also provide more convenient access for transporting agricultural produce to markets, helping facilitate local economic activities.
For farming communities, reliable access to agricultural areas is an important part of the wider rural infrastructure network. Roads connecting farms to surrounding settlements and market routes can influence the ease and efficiency of transporting produce, particularly when farmers need to move goods from production areas to buyers.
The completion of the two projects also adds to infrastructure improvements in the Spaoh area, where rural roads serve communities that depend on agriculture and related activities.
The projects form part of the government’s broader approach to rural infrastructure development, with investment in road access intended to support community needs and improve conditions for residents outside major urban centres.
Their early completion means the upgraded facilities are available for use before the original November deadline. For local residents, the changes are focused on practical access to agricultural land and the movement of people and produce.
The projects are located within the N.37 Bukit Saban constituency and come under the BDDA programme, which supports development initiatives in the Betong Division.
Beyond improving physical connectivity, better farm access can support the day-to-day activities of rural households involved in agriculture. Easier movement between farms, residential areas and markets can reduce some of the logistical challenges associated with transporting agricultural products.
The handover marks the formal completion of the two farm road upgrading projects at Sungai Rian Anyut and Jitu Anyut. Their completion ahead of schedule provides the local community with improved access while reinforcing the importance of rural infrastructure in supporting agricultural activity and community development.
