SRI AMAN – The Sarawak JKR Islamic Welfare Association (PKIJ) Sri Aman Branch organised a Lambuk porridge distribution programme on 5 March 2026, coinciding with the 15th day of Ramadan 1447H.
The event was held at the Sri Aman JKR Surau and brought together department staff and members of the local community.
Early morning preparations saw workers from the Sri Aman Division Public Works Department working together to cook and package traditional lambuk porridge.
The activity reflected the spirit of Ramadan while also encouraging teamwork and stronger bonds among staff members.
Distribution began in the afternoon between 3.30 pm and 4.30 pm. Portions were delivered to several government offices, including the Resident’s Office, District Office, Land and Survey Department, and Agriculture Department.
Members of the public also received servings in front of the Sri Aman Divisional Public Works Office, ensuring the programme benefited both government personnel and the wider community.
The initiative aimed to promote goodwill and strengthen cooperation between the Public Works Department and other government agencies.
By sharing the food with the public, the programme also highlighted the importance of inclusivity and community togetherness during the fasting month.
Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail, Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development Sarawak, has previously highlighted the importance of community-focused programmes in strengthening social relationships.
Such events are viewed as practical expressions of compassion and unity, which are core values of Ramadan.
Community leaders in Sri Aman said the programme helped build stronger relationships between government staff and residents, creating a stronger sense of shared responsibility.
The tradition of preparing and sharing food during Ramadan remains an important cultural practice in Malaysia, symbolising mutual support and social harmony.
The PKIJ Sri Aman Branch continues to organise welfare activities involving both staff and the public. The lambuk porridge distribution is one of many efforts to promote solidarity, cooperation, and a caring community culture.
As Ramadan continues, programmes like this are expected to further strengthen community ties in Sri Aman, ensuring that generosity and unity remain central to daily life.
