SRI AMAN – The dedication of educators at SK Sebangkoi has been commended for their role in shaping students’ character and academic success, with renewed calls to strengthen efforts against disciplinary challenges.
Sri Aman Member of Parliament, Dato’ Sri Doris Sophia Brodie, highlighted that the achievements of students today reflect the determination of teachers to ensure every child is given the opportunity to reach their full potential. She made the remarks during the SK Sebangkoi Pre-School Graduation and Student Appreciation Ceremony held on Thursday.
Doris emphasised that while academic excellence is important, equal attention must be given to addressing behavioural concerns. She noted that issues such as bullying and early signs of gangsterism remain worrying trends, requiring vigilance from schools, parents, and the wider community. “Student safety requires continuous cooperation between schools, parents and the community,” she said, stressing the need for collective responsibility.
The MP also pointed to the Sarawak GPS Government’s upcoming initiative to provide free higher education starting next year, which will include an annual allowance of RM15,000. She expressed confidence that this policy will ease financial burdens on families and encourage students to pursue further studies with greater enthusiasm.
The ceremony at SK Sebangkoi served not only as a celebration of student achievements but also as a reminder of the importance of nurturing discipline and resilience among young learners. Doris urged educators and parents to remain proactive in guiding children towards positive values, ensuring they grow into competitive and competent individuals.
She further expressed hope that SK Sebangkoi will continue to thrive as a model institution, producing graduates who are well-prepared to contribute to society. The event underscored the dual priorities of academic excellence and safeguarding student welfare, both seen as vital to the future of education in Sri Aman.
