Now in its fourth day, the programme builds on the momentum of the Storyteller Journey, which earlier visited Tadika Methodist Pending.

The organisers are committed to fostering a love of reading among young children by creating interactive and memorable experiences that extend beyond the classroom.

Children at both kindergartens were treated to engaging storytelling sessions designed to spark imagination and curiosity.

The sessions combined performance, narrative, and participation, encouraging children to immerse themselves in the stories while learning valuable lessons about language and creativity.

As part of the initiative, each child received a storybook from Pustaka Negeri Sarawak to take home. These books serve as keepsakes and as encouragement for families to continue reading together.

Organisers emphasised that family involvement is crucial in sustaining children’s interest in books and building a culture of shared learning.

The Storyteller Walk Programme is closely aligned with the objectives of the Jom Baca Bersama 2026 campaign, which seeks to strengthen literacy and promote lifelong learning across Malaysia.

By targeting kindergartens, the organisers aim to instil reading habits at an early age, laying the foundation for future educational success.

Teachers at Tadika KOPPES Samariang and Tadika SeDidik Samariang Batu welcomed the initiative, noting that such programmes complement classroom teaching by offering children unique experiences that make reading enjoyable.

They expressed optimism that the sessions would inspire children to explore books more actively and develop a lasting interest in storytelling.

With several more kindergartens scheduled to host the programme before it concludes on 17 April, the organisers are confident that the initiative will leave a meaningful impact.

By combining storytelling, interactive engagement, and family participation, the programme continues to reinforce the importance of reading as a cornerstone of lifelong learning.
