Sultan Ibrahim Oversees Appointment of Chief Judge & Federal Court Judges

KUALA LUMPUR – His Royal Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim presided over the official ceremony to grant certificates of appointment to the Chief Judge of Malaya and several Federal Court Judges at the Small Throne Room, Istana Negara, on Wednesday, 3 December.

The ceremony commenced with the appointment of Yang Amat Arif (YAA) Dato’ Hashim Hamzah as the Chief Justice of Malaysia.

His Majesty then presented certificates of appointment to newly appointed Federal Court Judges, namely Yang Arif (YA) Dato’ Che Mohd Ruzima Ghazali, YA Dato’ Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali, YA Dato’ Collin Lawrence Sequerah, and YA Datuk Azimah Omar.

The event was attended by several distinguished figures from Malaysia’s judiciary and government. Among them were YAA Datuk Seri Utama Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh, Chief Justice of the Republic; YB Dato’ Seri Azalina Othman Said, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform); and Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, Chief Secretary to the Government.

Also, present were YAA Dato’ Abu Bakar Jais, President of the Court of Appeal, alongside other senior judicial officers and dignitaries.

Their attendance underscored the significance of the ceremony in reinforcing Malaysia’s judicial leadership and institutional integrity.
