KUALA LUMPUR – His Royal Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim has been officially proclaimed as the Grand Patron of the Malaysian Scout Federation during a ceremony held at the Seri Bendahara Hall, Istana Negara, on 3 December.
The proclamation speech was delivered by Major General Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Zin Bidin, Chief of the National Scouts, who confirmed His Majesty’s appointment in line with Part II, Section 1, Article 11 (1) of the Organizational Regulations (POR) 2010, read together with Act of Parliament 784 – the Federation of Scouts of Malaysia Act 1968 (revised 2016).
During the ceremony, His Majesty also consented to receive the Gold Padi Spirit Star, First Class, the highest honour awarded by the Malaysian Scout Federation.
The award symbolises recognition of His Majesty’s support and commitment to the scouting movement in Malaysia.
The event was attended by senior figures of the National Scout Council, including Dato’ Ahmad Shaziy Ismail Bakti, Deputy President; Datuk Zamani Tambichek, Vice President; and Tan Sri Abdullah Taib, Treasurer.
Their presence underscored the importance of the occasion in strengthening the federation’s ties with the monarchy.
The proclamation of Sultan Ibrahim as Grand Patron reflects the longstanding tradition of royal support for scouting in Malaysia.
It is expected to inspire greater participation among youth and reinforce the federation’s mission of instilling discipline, leadership, and community service.
The ceremony at Istana Negara highlighted the role of the scouting movement as a vital platform for nurturing future leaders, while also reaffirming the monarchy’s role in supporting national institutions that promote unity and civic responsibility.
