IPOH – A woman who attempted to attack the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, during the Perak state-level National Day celebration has been remanded for three days to assist police investigations.
Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, confirmed that the remand order was granted by Magistrate Wardah, Nabilah Mohd Abd Wahab, beginning today until Wednesday.
The case is being investigated under Section 325/511 of the Penal Code for attempted grievous bodily harm.
According to police, the suspect, a 41-year-old Russian woman, was brought to the Ipoh District Police Headquarters (IPD) compound at about 10.15am today under police escort.
The woman was arrested yesterday after she stormed the main stage during the official celebration, shocking attendees and security personnel. She allegedly attempted to attack Sultan Nazrin while the Perak state anthem was being played.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect has a history of psychiatric treatment. Authorities are reviewing her medical background as part of the investigation.
Assistant Commissioner Abang Zainal said police are taking the matter seriously as it involves the safety of the Sultan and the public during an official state event.
“The safety of His Royal Highness and those present is our utmost priority. We will ensure that such incidents are prevented in the future,” he said.
Meanwhile, eyewitnesses expressed shock and disbelief, describing the situation as tense before security officers swiftly controlled the situation.
The case has drawn public attention as it occurred during a national-level celebration attended by dignitaries, state leaders, and the general public.
