The Royal Malaysia Police has taken swift action to tighten security along the Malaysia-Thailand border following a bomb explosion and gunfire in the Gualosira area, Pasemas District, Sungai Golok, Narathiwat Province, early Monday morning.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain announced the heightened security measures in response to the incident, emphasizing collaboration with Thai authorities to address the situation effectively.

Incident Details

According to reports, the bomb explosion occurred as four Thai security personnel were en route to Sungai Golok. Suspected criminals allegedly planted the bomb, followed by gunfire directed at the security personnel. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported thus far.

Security Measures

In light of the incident, all state police chiefs, particularly those from Kelantan, Perlis, Kedah, and Perak, have been placed on high alert. The General Operations Force (GOF) has mobilized, conducting patrols and mounting roadblocks along the border area to ensure heightened vigilance.

Acknowledging the cross-border nature of the incident, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain stressed the importance of cooperation with Thai authorities. This collaborative effort aims to not only apprehend the suspects but also prevent further security breaches along the border.
