66 Years Strong: SUPP Stays United in Fighting for Sarawak’s Future
KUCHING, 4 June 2025 – The Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) marked its 66th anniversary with pride and renewed commitment to champion Sarawak’s rights, heritage, and future.
Batu Kitang Assemblyman and SUPP Deputy Secretary-General, Dato Lo Khere Chiang, reaffirmed the party’s unwavering spirit and historical mission during a flag-raising ceremony held at the party’s headquarters on Jalan Tan Sri Ong Kee Hui.
“Today, we gather to honour our past and move forward together as a united team under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS),” he said.
Founded in 1959, SUPP is Sarawak’s oldest political party. According to Dato Lo, its rich legacy must be remembered and passed down, especially to the younger generation.
“From day one, SUPP leaders have fought for Sarawak’s independence. That mission is still relevant today — to protect Sarawak, to safeguard our resources and identity,” he emphasised.
Dato Lo, who also chairs the SUPP Batu Kitang Branch, expressed full confidence in the leadership of party president Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian. He praised Dr Sim for steering the party with a clear vision focused on education, youth empowerment, and unity.
“Dr Sim is the right leader for Sarawak. He understands the needs of the people and prioritises youth education, which is key to our future,” he added.
He was especially proud of the growing involvement of young Sarawakians in the party, describing it as vital for the continuity of SUPP’s values and struggles.
“This is more than politics. This is about securing our future — our land, our people, and our culture. We must keep educating our youth on why SUPP and GPS matter for Sarawak,” said Dato Lo.
