The outreach programme, spearheaded by N13 Batu Kitang assemblyman YB Dato Lo Khere Chiang, garnered the support of key community figures, including Councillor Gerald Goh, entrepreneur Albert Lee, and representatives from local grassroots organisations such as the JKKK, Kapitan, and Penghulu.

The primary objective of the initiative was to streamline access to vital Sarawak government programmes for residents, with a particular emphasis on assisting senior citizens and vulnerable individuals. The event witnessed significant public engagement from locals seeking comprehensive information regarding available support mechanisms.

Key initiatives promoted during the outreach included the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC), a programme offering a spectrum of benefits, encompassing discounts, prioritised services, and financial aid, specifically tailored for Sarawakians aged 60 and above. Additionally, the Senior Citizen Health Benefit (SCHB) was highlighted, which provides eligible senior citizens from B40 and M40 income brackets with up to RM500 annually in medical assistance redeemable at private healthcare facilities.

Eligibility criteria for these programmes stipulate that applicants must be aged 60 or older, possess a “K” designation on their MyKad, and have a declared household income not exceeding RM7,000.

YB Dato Lo Khere Chiang conveyed his satisfaction with the community’s robust participation. “The significant turnout of residents eager to learn about government assistance underscores the critical need for such outreach efforts. The Sarawak government remains steadfast in its commitment to improving the welfare of its citizenry,” he stated.

Furthermore, YB Dato Lo affirmed SUPP Batu Kitang’s commitment to conducting subsequent mobile service sessions to ensure comprehensive dissemination of government aid to all eligible individuals within the constituency.

The recent event at Swee Sen Cafe effectively underscores the Sarawak government’s ongoing dedication to serving its populace, particularly the elderly and those facing socio-economic challenges, by extending essential services directly within their local environments.
