KUCHING – The SUPP/GPS mobile service counter continued its weekly outreach initiative, drawing strong participation from the public, community leaders, KMKK representatives, local councillors, service centre staff, branch members, volunteers and residents. The programme, known as Service2U, was held at local kopitiams over the recent weekend.
The initiative, often described as a “busy bees” effort, aims to bring assistance directly to familiar community spaces, making it easier for residents to raise concerns and seek guidance.
The mobile helpdesk has become a regular fixture, fostering closer ties between political representatives, grassroots leaders and the public.
Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian, who also serves as Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government and is the Member of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly for N14 Batu Kawah, was present during the session. His attendance underscored the importance of direct engagement with constituents in everyday settings.
The Service2U programme has been praised for its accessibility, offering a platform where residents can interact with leaders and volunteers in a relaxed environment.
By situating the counter in coffee shops, organisers have created a welcoming atmosphere that encourages dialogue and strengthens community bonds.
Participants expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that it provides a practical way to address local issues while reinforcing the role of community leaders and volunteers in supporting residents.
The weekly sessions have also highlighted the collaborative spirit between political parties, service centres and grassroots organisations.
The mobile service counter reflects a broader commitment to community-centred governance, ensuring that assistance is not confined to formal offices but extended into everyday spaces where people gather.
Organisers intend to continue the programme, reinforcing the values of inclusivity, accessibility and responsiveness in public service.
